One year on

This day last year, I was sitting an apartment near the Jet.com office in Hoboken avoiding the rain. I’d just left a job that I was well versed in, and knew I could do. I’d been working with some of the team for almost 14 years (on and off) and it was a safe place.

For years though, information security was what I wanted to do, so I’d made the decision to take that leap and commit. It was a big deal for me, it was daunting. I was going from a small business (less than 300 or so) to a Fortune 1 company. In hindsight, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

The team in Walmart/Jet.com have made me feel welcome, they’ve challenged and supported me. It’s not all been smooth sailing, nothing ever is… But it’s been fun, I’ve learned a lot and I hope I’ve helped my team do better, go faster and achieve their goals. I’m really looking forward to the next year, and the ones following that. First up though, next weekend I’m taking part in SWCCDC as a member of the red team. It’s something new for me, and I’m going to probably do terribly, but it’ll still be fun and a learning experience. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters really
